Agnirva Space Premier League - Expedition #31122: JAXA Public Relations Activity 14: Inspiring Curiosity from Orbit

The JAXA Public Relations Activity 14, conducted during Expedition 68, continued the Japanese space agency’s efforts to use the International Space Station (ISS) as a powerful tool for public engagement. Spearheaded by Anna Hiraide, this outreach campaign combined technology, culture, and education to bring a touch of space into everyday life.

The initiative focused on using storytelling and personal experiences to demystify space travel. Astronauts participated in conversations with schoolchildren, answered public questions, and demonstrated life aboard the ISS. The aim was to make spaceflight relatable and to show the emotional and human side of long-duration missions.

This activity included unique videos and imagery of space-related phenomena, such as Earth views from orbit, floating food, and daily routines in microgravity. These were shared on various platforms to spark curiosity and invite public interaction. By incorporating viewer questions and content ideas, the campaign became a two-way dialogue rather than a one-way broadcast.

One highlight was a series of collaborative events where schools were invited to host space-themed activities and live streams with astronauts. This encouraged young learners to see themselves as future space explorers and innovators.

PR Activity 14 demonstrated that when you combine science with storytelling, you create a more inclusive and inspiring vision of space exploration. It’s not just about rockets and satellites—it’s about people, dreams, and connections that stretch across the stars.
