Agnirva Space Premier League - Expedition #31933: PROPCUBE-Fauna: Investigating Earth and Space Science in Microgravity

PROPCUBE-Fauna is an experiment designed to study the effects of microgravity on biological organisms in space, particularly focusing on how small animals behave in space conditions. This experiment, led by Dr. Paul Bernhardt from the Naval Research Laboratory, uses nano-satellites to transport the biological samples, enabling researchers to study them during their journey. Conducted during expeditions 53/54, the PROPCUBE-Fauna aims to expand our understanding of how microgravity impacts life, particularly small creatures that have been less studied in space science. The unique conditions in space can affect everything from growth patterns to behavior, and the results of this study can provide important insights into how organisms adapt to extreme environments. It’s crucial for future long-term space missions and will also contribute to the knowledge needed to ensure the safe transport and well-being of biological organisms in space. Researchers at Tyvak Nano-Satellite Systems Inc. have been instrumental in developing the technology that made the study possible. This experiment is part of NASA’s Earth and Space Science initiatives.
