The Qubesat experiment represents a significant step forward in space technology. Led by Dr. Olivier Chazot from the Von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics, this project focuses on aerothermodynamic research and measurements on ablation. Ablation refers to the process of material loss due to the extreme heat and pressure encountered during atmospheric entry. The Qubesat experiment aimed to develop new technology and research methods that will enhance the safety and efficiency of future spacecraft re-entry, particularly for those traveling at high speeds through planetary atmospheres. Conducted during the 61/62 expeditions aboard the ISS, this experiment also demonstrates the potential of small satellites (cubesats) in testing critical aerospace technologies in a low Earth orbit environment, paving the way for more advanced space exploration.
