When students in France designed an experiment for the ISS, they had no idea it would become part of Expedition 65. The Tetr’ISS project, led by Philippe Garnier from University Toulouse III and supported by ESA and CNES, brought classroom science into orbit.
The “Technology Box” was designed to host miniaturized electronics experiments. This box was flown to the ISS where it tested how space conditions—like microgravity and radiation—impact sensors, communication modules, and processing chips commonly used in educational kits.
This hands-on experience not only helped validate low-cost technology for space use but also gave students a rare glimpse into real mission protocols. They learned how to work with engineers, write technical documentation, and troubleshoot space-rated hardware.
Tetr’ISS proves that science doesn’t need a million-dollar budget to make a difference. Sometimes, all it takes is a box of smart ideas—and a rocket ride.
