Try Zero-G for Asia is an educational outreach program initiated by JAXA that builds on the success of the original Try Zero-Gravity project. It aims to engage students across the Asian continent in understanding the effects of microgravity through direct participation in space experiments conducted aboard the International Space Station (ISS).
In this program, students from participating Asian countries propose simple physics-based activities to be performed by astronauts in space. These activities, like spinning objects, bouncing balls, or comparing free-fall, demonstrate the differences between gravity on Earth and microgravity in orbit. Astronauts perform these selected activities during various expeditions—specifically 43/44 through 74—and the recorded sessions are shared with students to deepen their learning.
This initiative serves as both an educational tool and a diplomatic bridge, fostering international cooperation and encouraging young people to pursue STEM fields. By observing their own ideas performed in space, students see a direct link between their classroom lessons and real scientific research.
Programs like Try Zero-G for Asia play a critical role in making space accessible and exciting for all. They emphasize that science and exploration are global endeavors, open to everyone.
