The Technical University of Moldova took a giant leap into space with its educational CubeSat project. Designed, built, and tested by students and faculty, this small satellite was launched to the International Space Station during Expedition 67 as part of an educational outreach initiative supported by JAXA.
CubeSats are miniaturized satellites that provide a cost-effective way to perform scientific research and train future engineers. This mission allowed Moldovan students to gain firsthand experience in satellite engineering, mission planning, and space science. The CubeSat collected data, tested small-scale technologies, and transmitted signals back to Earth—demonstrating what student-led teams can achieve with the right support and vision.
By participating in every stage of development, from concept to deployment, students honed critical skills in electronics, software, and space systems. More importantly, they saw their work fly into space, inspiring not only their peers but also the broader academic and national community.
This project showcases how space education can empower young scientists and engineers to dream big and achieve more.
