Agnirva Space Premier League - Expedition #32609: Voda: Water-Based Disaster Monitoring from the International Space Station

Part of the Uragan initiative, the Voda experiment focuses on identifying water-related disaster risks using space-based data. With Lev Desinov at the helm, this project studies the movement and condition of bodies of water from orbit to anticipate flooding, droughts, and changes in hydrological cycles. Utilizing multispectral imaging, Voda captures detailed visuals of lakes, rivers, reservoirs, and coastlines to assess water volume, sediment content, and temperature variations. This high-resolution monitoring assists governments and agencies in predicting floods, evaluating water resource management, and responding to climate variability. The Voda system has provided crucial insights over nearly 20 expeditions, supporting efforts to mitigate water-related disasters through precise, timely data from space.
