Agnirva Space Premier League - Expedition #32616: Cosmic Creativity: Students Explore Radiation in Space

What happens when students combine science with creativity aboard the International Space Station? 'Under The Background Influence,' an experiment supported by the European Space Agency and led by Andres Russu, gave young minds the chance to investigate space radiation through artistic and educational lenses.

The experiment explores how cosmic radiation—a constant background in space—affects materials and equipment. But instead of pure engineering, the project integrated education and art, encouraging students to think about space science in novel ways. Participants studied radiation patterns and their potential influence on sensors and materials, developing both technical knowledge and creative outputs.

The educational value was immense. Students from across Europe contributed ideas, analyzed data, and communicated findings through art, essays, and digital media. It inspired curiosity and problem-solving, helping the next generation understand complex space challenges.

Programs like this democratize space exploration and prove that you don’t need to be a rocket scientist to contribute to science in orbit. All you need is curiosity, creativity, and an opportunity to participate.
