The history of spaceflight is not just about technology—it's a story of human ambition, culture, and international cooperation. The “Popularizing Achievements in Russian Manned Space Exploration” project, also known as Velikoye Nachalo (Great Start), brings this narrative to life from aboard the International Space Station. Led by ROSCOSMOS and Mikhail Belyaev, this effort ran through Expeditions 27/28 to 43/44, showcasing Russian contributions to human space exploration.
Through educational content, in-orbit video recordings, and cultural storytelling, this initiative aimed to bridge the gap between space professionals and the general public. It gave audiences—especially students and enthusiasts—a behind-the-scenes view of life aboard the ISS, the complexities of space operations, and the spirit of scientific exploration.
The program also provided inspiration for future generations of engineers, scientists, and explorers by emphasizing the heritage and ongoing efforts of Russian cosmonauts.
